My Current Favs:

My updated skincare routine

Hello friends! So, I always thought I had a decent skincare routine… I used some CVS brand moisturizer, CVS brand face wash, andddd that was pretty much it. I moisturized my face and I thought I was good! I used to have the Mario Badescu vitamin C serum, but never repurchased after I was all out… lol. It wasn’t until I was sent products from Caudalie and Nu Beauty where I started to really learn about skincare and the importance of having a bomb skincare routine.

So for the past month, I have been using and testing out a bunch of Caudalie products and Nu Beauty’s vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum.

(Just to let you know, my skin type is pretty normal, but a little oily).

About Nu Beauty

Nu Beauty, founded by Emily and Jessica, created an organic vitamin C + hyaluronic acid serum. This is a perfectly formulated organic serum including minimal ingredients like Camu Camu and Indian GooseBerry, Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Aloe. SEE! ingredients we all know how to pronounce – that is key!

As I have been doing more research and amping up my skincare routine, having natural products has become very important to me. In the past, I used products with ingredients I had no idea how to pronounce. Who knows what I was putting onto my skin and how it has effecting my body? Did you know your skin is the largest organ in the human body? Because of this uncertainty, using only clean and natural beauty/skincare products has become a huge 2020 goal of mine.

About Caudalie

Caudalie is a multi-channel French skincare company, owned by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, specializing in anti-aging, skincare, body care, fragrance & masks. Ingredients are derived from the grapevine. The company is super active in toxicology and ecology and refuses to use any artificial preservatives, mineral oil and animal by-products.

Co-founder Mathilde is committed to offering the most natural formulas possible, while guaranteeing they remain both effective and luxurious.

Morning Skincare Routine

For my morning routine, I start off using my Caudalie instant foaming cleanser (this cleanser is one of their best sellers btw). It smells amazing and it completely cleanses and purifies my skin without it feeling tight and dry afterwards.

After I use the cleanser, I like to use Nu Beauty’s serum. You are able to use this serum in the AM and PM which is amazing. I take about 2-3 pea-sized drops on my hands and massage it into my face. There are many benefits of hyaluronic acid, but the one that is most important to me is getting rid of and smoothing out unwanted wrinkles. The vitamin C will give you an instant glow, diminish any acne scars and dark spot, and give your skin an overall “plump” youthful look.

To really push the product into my skin, I roll my face with my rose quartz massage roller. I got it as a Christmas gift and it was probably one of my favorite gifts of the season. I like to keep this roller in the fridge and it really helps wake me up in the morning. It promotes circulation for glowy, healthy-looking skin, releases tension in facial muscles, and cools to help reduce the appearance of puffiness and under-eye bags.

After, I try to put on sunscreen before my moisturizer, but I haven’t found a sunscreen that doesn’t make my skin feel sticky and oily. SUNSCREEN IS SO IMPORTANT TO PUT ON EVERY DAY LADIES AND GENTS! Even in the winter time. If you have any recommendations for good sunscreens to use under moisturizer that doesn’t make your skin feel sticky, leave me a comment down below!

For moisturizer, I am going to be honest, I still use my go-to CVS moisturizer. I’ve used it since high school and it’s the only moisturizer (that I have found) that doesn’t make my skin feel weird or make my skin more oily. Again, if you know of any organic, natural moisturizers that are oil free, please let me know!

Nighttime Skincare Routine

So, that way I start my nighttime skincare routine is determining whether or not this is the night I exfoliate my face. If I am not exfoliating my face, I will start off by using the Caudalie cleanser that I mentioned in my morning routine. If I am exfoliating my face, I usually like to use a face mask after I exfoliate and before I do the rest of the nighttime routine (I exfoliate twice a week). I don’t know why, but after I exfoliate I feel like my skin can absorb a face mask better because I exfoliated all the dead skin off my face and my pores are all open… That could totally be the wrong thing to do, but for me, I feel like it has helped me skin. The exfoliating face wash I use is a cvs brand.

After I exfoliate my face, the face mask I’ve been using lately is by – you guessed it – Caudalie. It’s called the Instant Detox Mask. This mask “…purifies stressed city dwelling skin. Its 99% natural formula cleanses skin impurities and excess sebum. Skin texture is visibly refined, pores are tightened, the complexion is even/radiant”. And let me tell ya, my pores are GONE after I use this mask. Well that might be a little dramatic, but they definitely look A LOT smaller after I’ve had this mask on for 30 mins. 10/10 recommend this face mask.

Once I wash the face mask off, this is where I GO IN with serums and creams. First, I will apply under-eye cream. I use the Premier Cru The Eye Cream from Caudalie. This product is velvety smooth and I feel like my under eye circles have been greatly diminished – another best seller from Caudalie.

After the eye cream, I will apply 2-3 of the Nu Beauty Serum followed by the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream. The radiance serum is Caudalie’s worldwide cult favorite serum, and I understand why. It’s suitable for all skin types, it works to reduce the appearance of dark spots, including pregnancy marks, acne marks, sun pigmentation and age-related dark spots, and prevents them from reappearing. I can honestly say the combination of this serum with Nu Beauty’s vitamin C serum, the acne scars on my chin are barely there anymore – which is amazing!

I only use the S.O.S intense moisturizing cream at night because, for me personally, I feel like its too thick and heavy of a cream to use in the daytime. Once I used it as my daily moisturizer and I felt my skin get oily faster during the day. But it’s great as a nighttime moisturizer because it’s super hydrating.

One last step, I spray a bit of Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir spray and then I am off to bed! The elixir spray is made of 100% natural-origin ingredients and bursting with precious plant extracts, it reveals complexion radiance, visibly smooths the features and tightens the appearance of pores. It’s great as a makeup primer and a quick refresher during the day! But I love to use it at night because of the fragrance. It’s super calming for me and “its aromatic fragrance soothes the mind and the senses”. (REMEMBER! Caudalie uses ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS!)

So there ya have it! My current skincare routine! Again, if you have any recommendations for sunscreen or natural moisturizers, let me know down below or feel free to DM me on IG. What are some of your go-to skincare items?

xx, Maggie
